Writing or editing hard-core technical content is not easy. One has to read the white papers and technical documents to understand deeply about the subject. For this project where I was asked to proofread the content and write (as per the need), my approach was simple, understand the offered product/service first. For that, I read the documents provided to me and also checked the content of other competitors like Amazon, IBM, TCS, and others to write and validate the copy. It was a gruelling exercise as I had around 20 such pages in my kitty to write and edit.

The challenge

1) Besides understanding the product, the existing copy was typically mechanical with long sentences stuffed with technical jargons (which to some extent will be there as it's about Cloud Services).

2) There was a lack of content hierarchy with no clear headings and sub-headings that differentiate the different parts of the content.

3) The flow was missing. When you write about a product, first you highlight the benefits it offers to help solve a problem. Then you go deeper and elucidate on the topic taking a granular approach.

4) The draft content was not as per Jio Guidelines. Usage of words used for differently abled persons is a strict now. Plus, the style and form of the fonts used was not not consistent.

5) Also, the draft content wasn't not user-friendly specially on mobile with chunky texts every where.

Key deliverables

I delivered sanitizing all the 20 technical pages in 3 weeks. You can check the final content absolutely LIVE from some of the links below:
